The Journal of Advances in Medical Education and Professionalism (JAMP) is celebrating its 14th anniversary now. In this journal, we propose several steps to dissociate the appraisal of a paper's quality and impact from the decision to publish, including rigorous peer review to ensure that high-quality articles in medical education are published. With a highly enthusiastic editorial team, expert reviewers, and enthusiastic authors, new ideas certainly arise. Another step is prioritizing meaningful educational studies and evidence-based approaches. And the most important step is broadening the citations and open access to attract submissions from the medical education community worldwide ( 1 ).

Today, the medical education community is seeking ways to enhance the quality of medical education research. The goal of improving medical education is to train physicians to provide better health care to the population and, eventually, to achieve a higher quality of life for the communities. As in every other discipline, improving the quality of medical education depends on using the best evidence from high-quality research and publishing it in medical education journals.

Scientific journals have had a positive effect on the expansion of the sciences. The connection among authors, editors, and reviewers is very strong in publishing. When we talk about journal quality, we look at factors like how many times people cite a paper and the journal's impact factor. The authors, reviewers, and editors all work together to ensure the journal is of high quality. Journal quality is important because it helps us assess the quality of scientific work ( 2 , 3 ).

In 2013, JAMP obtained accreditation as a scientific research journal and began its academic journey. One of the milestones for the journal occurred in 2014, when JAMP was added to PubMed. In 2015, one year after it was added to the PubMed database, JAMP received the gift as the top journal at the National Congress on Medical Education. The above-mentioned improvement demonstrated that everyone working with the journal was doing a great job.

JAMP was added to Scopus in 2019. Then, in 2025, it received a greater honor: it was ranked as a Q1 journal in Scopus, a major achievement.

Another national honor for the journal was its fifth place among 398 Iranian journals indexed in Scopus, based on the SCImago Journal Rank (SJR) indicator. However, the mentioned facts are merely indicators of academic progress achieved through joint activities.

We are really looking forward to talking to researchers who are interested in medical education from all around the world. We love getting to see ideas and research from people who intend to share them with us. Our goal is to help spread medical education research and ideas.We have been doing this for a long time and we are excited to keep working with the medical education community to make medical education science on the right track.
